Excuse our appearance as we prepare for our 150th anniversary!

20th Dec 2018

The 11th of September 2019 is the official date of The National Wallace Monument’s 150th anniversary, however, we’ll be celebrating with a host of special events and activities planned throughout the year.

Ahead of the celebrations, we want to make sure the Monument is looking its very best. Maintenance work will take place from now until April 2019 to ensure that it continues looking spectacular for our visitors from Stirling, Scotland and across the world.

These works will include refurbishment to the exterior stonework, restoring of the iconic William Wallace statue that towers above the Monuments entrance, and updating of the interior exhibition galleries.

Detailed elements of The National Wallace Monument

While maintenance work is underway, much of the Monument’s exterior will be covered. Exhibition spaces remain open, as does the Monument’s crown, where visitors can still experience the stunning 360° views across Stirlingshire and the Highlands.

We expect the Monument to remain open for much of the works, temporarily closing in mid-February while internal maintenance work takes place and re-opening in April 2019 with a new look. We will be providing regular updates via our social media channels. View our Facebook and Twitter pages.

To thank you for your patience as we prepare for this exciting time at The National Wallace Monument, we are offering you 20% off the purchase price of your ticket while the Monument is open.

A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us at The National Wallace Monument.
