Safety and Security at The National Wallace Monument
At The National Wallace Monument, the safety and security of all visitors are of the utmost importance. Upon arrival to the Tower a member of staff will be available to answer any questions.
Our team plays a vital role in creating a safe environment. We kindly ask for your patience, understanding, and full cooperation with them as they perform these necessary duties.
By entering the site, you consent to the below.
Security Measures
- Bag Restrictions: Bags are permitted, provided their dimensions do not exceed 55.9 x 35.6 x 22.9cm. Unfortunately, larger items and suitcases cannot be allowed.
- No Left Luggage Facilities: There are no storage facilities on-site, except for pushchairs and wheelchairs/walking aids.
Food and Drink Policy
To maintain our high safety standards and ensure smooth operations, no hot drinks are allowed up the main staircase into the Tower.
Prohibited Items
For the safety and comfort of all visitors, the following items are strictly prohibited on-site:
- Cold boxes, picnic hampers or luggage
- Knives or sharp objects
- Aerosols
- Personal protection sprays or devices
- Drones
- Large flags
- Items promoting ambush marketing
- Political slogans or banners
- Rattles, klaxons, or other noise-making devices
- Illegal substances
- Tents or camping equipment
- Alcohol
- Selfie sticks
- Fireworks or any other pyrotechnic/explosive items
Drone Filming
Please note that drone flights over, from or within view of The National Wallace Monument site are not permitted during our operating hours.
CCTV
A CCTV system is used in The Monument to assist in the proper running of the site, for the purposes of security, safety, and good management. You and your actions may therefore be recorded when you enter the site. However, we do not make any representation as to the extent of coverage provided by the cameras and will only release footage, or details of the footage, to appropriate authorities such as the Police, upon formal and appropriate request.
Unacceptable Behaviour
We believe that everyone has a right to be heard, understood and treated with respect.
Offensive language and lewd behaviour is inappropriate for a family visitor attraction. Visitors who are using offensive language or behaving inappropriately may result in being refused entry, or being asked to leave the site without any right to a refund.
The Monument does not tolerate abuse or violence towards any visitor, contractor, or Team member, or malicious damage to its property. The Police may be notified of any activity or situation if it is deemed necessary by the Duty Manager or other appropriate representative.
Visitors who are, or who appear to be, under the influence of alcohol, drugs, ‘legal highs’, or other substances will not be permitted entry. Or will be asked to leave without any right to a refund should this become apparent later.
