Directions to the Monument
The National Wallace Monument is easy to spot from most parts of the city. The 220ft tower has dominated the Stirling skyline since its completion in 1869. It is located on Hillfoots Road, Causewayhead, Stirling.

Walking
It takes just under 1 hour to walk from Stirling Railway Station. There is the option to go through Stirling and Causewayhead, crossing the Old Stirling Bridge, or via Riverside and Cambuskenneth where you can see Cambuskenneth Abbey.
Cycling
Bike racks are available at the Car Park level where visitors can secure their bikes before travelling up by foot to the entrance level of the Monument.
Bikes can be hired from Nextbike, which is a bike share scheme with docking stations located throughout the city. It takes around 20 minutes to cycle to the Monument from Stirling City Centre.
Bus
There are regular local bus services departing from Stirling City Centre on Goosecroft Road (opposite Stirling Railway Station). Services 52 and UL (Unilink) stop outside the Monument Car Park.

Train
Regular and direct services to Stirling are operated by ScotRail from Edinburgh (45 minutes), Glasgow (35 minutes), Perth and Dundee, with connections to services across all of Scotland.
LNER also provides direct trains between London (5 hours) and Stirling.

Car
The Monument is located just outside Stirling – and is signposted from the City Centre, from Bridge of Allan, and from the M80, M9, and A91.
40 minutes drive to/from major Scottish cities Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Free Car Parking is provided for visitors at the Monument.
The nearest EV charging point is a short 3-minute drive from the Monument Car Park to Stephens Bakery on Causewayhead Road. Various other charging locations can be found nearby on Google Maps.
Taxi
Taxis are available from the ranks at Station Road and Murray Place (in front of the Baptist Church).
Arrival at the Monument
A free shuttle bus service operates between the Car Park and the Monument or visitors can follow The Wallace Way, a series of woodcarvings on the main path to reach the tower.
Free Shuttle Bus Service
The complimentary shuttle bus, with limited capacity, departs every 15 minutes from the Bus Stop in the Car Park, and the journey takes around 4 minutes to reach the tower.
The shuttle bus is not in operation from 1:00pm until 1:30pm – and visitors should therefore allow around 10-15 minutes to walk up from the Car Park to the Monument during this time. Please note that the pathway is steep and uneven in some areas.
Only assistance dogs are allowed on the shuttle bus.
Please be aware that the shuttle bus provided is a free complimentary service and is not part of the ticket price. There may be instances when the shuttle bus will not operate due to circumstances beyond our control.
Woodcarving Trail
The woodcarving trail on the Abbey Craig is designed to take visitors on a journey through time to learn more about Stirling’s fascinating history, from the ice age through to the building of the Monument.
The 20-minute route ascends the Abbey Craig and takes visitors from the Car Park to the entrance of the Monument. Visitors should be aware that the pathway is steep in some areas.
